Angling Regulations
Club members and ticket holders are asked to read them carefully and to
comply with them at all times.
1. Always carry your club ticket or permit and state licence on your
person and if asked to produce them, kindly oblige.
2. Club tickets or permits may not be lent or transferred to another
person.
3. Respect the farmer's property, do not break down fences. Leave gates
as you find them. Whenever possible use the paths near to the river and avoid crossing
open fields and disturbing cattle or trampling crops. Do not leave litter or light fires.
4. The season for salmon and sea-trout opens on 15th February and
closes on 30th September.
5. Worm fishing is permitted from 1st March until 30th September.
6. Fishing with prawn or shrimp is NOT permitted at any time
during the season i.e. from 15th February to 30th September. State Law: It is prohibited
keep more than one salmon OR one sea trout over 40cm per day before June 1. Any
subsequently caught fish must be returned unharmed to the water immediately upon capture.
It is prohibited sell rod caught salmon or sea trout over 40cm between January 1st and
October 31st.
7. Any form of ground baiting, particularly with maggots is banned.
8. Always maintain a high standard of Sportsmanship and show courtesy
to other anglers. Fish a reasonable distance from other anglers and give way to anglers
moving through a pool.
9. During the hours of daylight, not more than two anglers should fish
at one time on small or medium sized pool.
10. In the interests of conservation, all parr accidentally hooked and
sea-trout under 9 inches(23 cm) in length should be carefully returned to the water.
11. Please report any evidence or suspicion of poaching or illegal
fishing to the Secretary and/or Fishery Staff as quickly as follows:
